We sat down with a few Taiwan-based Googlers to hear about what they\u2019re working on and what inspires them in their day-to-day jobs.<\/p>\n<h3 data-block-key=\"2b8bv\"><b>Developing new solutions<\/b><\/h3>\n<p data-block-key=\"voig\">Sue Huang, a senior product manager for the Fitbit team, creates devices for people to understand their health better. \u201cWe want our devices to help people make better choices throughout the day,\u201d she says. \u201cFor example, last year, Fitbit launched the Sleep Profile as a premium feature that gives users a detailed monthly analysis of their sleep.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"21tns\">Sumi Sam, a director of technical program management for Pixel phones, proudly shares her team\u2019s latest accomplishment: \u201cThe Pixel Fold is the first Google phone that isn\u2019t candy bar-shaped \u2013 giving people more versatility to use one screen or two,\u201d she says. \u201cThis is the most complex phone we\u2019ve engineered, from redesigning the battery to custom-building the hinge. Because the foldable mechanism is new, so are the problems we\u2019re solving on the factory floor.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3 data-block-key=\"7l72g\"><b>Solving challenges for the rest of the world<\/b><\/h3>\n<p data-block-key=\"b5ckn\">In Taiwan, teams work on solving global challenges \u2014 not just those specific to Taiwan.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"cee8s\">As a Nest hardware engineer manager, Amy Lai is a part of the team responsible for electrical designs across the global Nest product portfolio. The team handles end-to-end product development, making sure product design reflects global business goals and that technical development goes smoothly. Their current priority? \u201cWith the rise of climate change, sustainability is a hugely relevant issue across the world,\u201d Amy says. \u201cRight now, our team is focused on creating ways for our smart thermostat to help people reduce energy consumption.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"9vtpl\">Nicolas Boichat, a software engineer manager, helps build the drivers behind the chips in Pixel phones. \u201cBecause Google designs its own System on a Chip (SOC), our team focuses on figuring out what really matters to the people using the device,\u201d he explains. \u201cOur chips enable more helpful features \u2014\u00a0like removing unwanted items from photos with the Magic Eraser feature, or bringing blurry photos back into focus with Photo Unblur.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.google\/around-the-globe\/google-asia\/how-google-taiwan-builds-new-features-and-products\/\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Google Taiwan is our largest hardware engineering hub outside of the United States, where Googlers are building next-generation hardware and software.
