They\u2019re totally leading the trend game, as per <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">our 2024 Instagram Trend Talk insights.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In December, it\u2019s our tradition to unveil the trends from the passing year. In the past, we\u2019ve rolled out reports covering wide trends or honing in on specific platforms, such as Reels. However, this time, we\u2019re shaking things up by sharing insights that spotlight how Gen Z will influence culture in 2024, much like their impact on Instagram trends this year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe Instagram Trend Talk previews the trends expected to surface on Instagram in 2024, driven by Gen Z\u2019s active pursuit. Indian Gen Z\u2019s upbeat and entrepreneurial spirit stands out as they eagerly explore new interests and trends across different domains. Their dedication to chosen fandoms and commitment to self-improvement shine through distinctly in these insights. And, while in many aspects Indian Gen Z\u2019s are similar to their global peers, these trends also show specific areas where they are different and unique.\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u2013 <\/span><b>Paras Sharma, Director of Content and Community Partnerships, Meta, India<\/b><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Our insights are derived from a survey* carried out by the trend forecasting firm WGSN and Instagram, spanning the United States, UK, Brazil, India, and South Korea.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> The survey covered questions on Gen Z perception of work, relationships, fashion, beauty, food and social media, in the context of the upcoming year. Here are some insights from GenZs in India.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>India Is A Trend-Setter<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In various realms, including food, beauty, and fashion trends, Indian Gen Z have shown a heightened inclination to embrace and explore emerging trends.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">From ayurvedic ingredients to vegan products, plant-based meats and adaptogens, <\/span><b>GenZ in India are most excited to try diverse food and ingredients<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Gen Z In India Are More Career Oriented<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In 2024, Gen Z in India have ranked staying healthy, exploring career paths, and traveling as their top priorities. However, in contrast to other nations, Gen Z in India exhibit a stronger focus on their career pursuits.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>43% hoped that 2024 will be their self-improvement era<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">! The year when they will invest in their personal growth and development.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As compared to other countries, <\/span><b>Gen Z in India also believe starting your own business is the best way to achieve wealth<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">!\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Meme Taste Matters<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The primary methods to connect with someone on Instagram include sending them a meme, liking their feed posts, and interacting with their Stories.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Actually, your meme preferences hold more weight than you realize. Nearly<\/span><b> a third of Gen Z respondents in India picked \u2018bad taste in memes\u2019 as their top turn-off<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>\u2018What Jhumka?<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2019<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Among various regions, Indian Gen Z demonstrates a greater enthusiasm for creatively showcasing fashion trends. This highlights the growing popularity of trends like <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">GRWM<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (Get Ready With Me) and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">thrifting<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, where creators ingeniously integrate products into their content. Examples include DIY approaches featuring \u2018<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">sarees<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2018 and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2018jhumkas<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2018.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>44% of Gen Z in India are interested in DIY (do-it-yourself) and wearing clothes in unexpected ways.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>A fourth of GenZ said their favorite beauty trend is getting a new hairstyle.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Most Gen Zs In India Belong To A Particular Fandom<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Virtually every Gen Z in India aligns with a specific fandom, ranging from music aficionados like the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">BTS army, Swifties, AR Rahman, Shreya Ghoshal, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Anirudh<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, to gaming enthusiasts invested in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Minecraft, Fortnite, Call of Duty, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Roblox<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Sports-wise, their affiliations span the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Indian Cricket Team, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Royal Challengers Bangalore, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Chennai Super Kings<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>9 out of 10 GenZ in India consider themselves part of a fandom.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>India has the highest percentage of sports superfans<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, as compared to Gen Z from other countries.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>GenZ\u2019s Want Relatable Content<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Be it from celebrities, athletes or creators, what Gen Z want most is relatability. This holds true globally, as it does in India.
