We believe AI is the modern technology with the most potential to foster creativity, innovation and free expression across the globe. In celebration of this potential, we participated in the AI Summit Cultural Weekend organized by the Ministry of Culture with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in France.<\/span><\/p>\n We partnered with <\/span>the Biblioth\u00e8que Nationale de France<\/span><\/a> (BnF), <\/span>Fisheye Immersive<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Convergence<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Institut Montaigne<\/span><\/a> to commission and present two open source AI-generated art installations by innovative artists, Ruben Fro and Benjamin Bardou. Their works demonstrate the capability of open source AI as a new medium and creative tool.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Ruben <\/span>Fro<\/span><\/a>, the Tokyo-based VFX artist, co-directed an audiovisual piece with immersive art director at Fisheye Mehdi Mejri titled \u201cDeep Diving,\u201d which was built on Meta\u2019s open source models, including SAM 2. The piece visualizes the workings of the BnF\u2019s unique book and document delivery system. The film was projected onto one of the library towers, displayed inside the BnF and shown on an LED screen outside of the library. \u201cDeep Diving\u201d will be on display for one week in celebration of the AI Action Summit.<\/span><\/p>\n Today, we\u2019re also excited to share that SAM (Segment Anything Model) 2.1 is now available on Amazon SageMaker JumpStart, making it easier than ever to deploy SAM 2.1 and integrate it into new applications and workflows to segment videos. Amazon SageMaker has been an important partner as we\u2019ve trained our SAM models, and we\u2019re excited to continue working with them to bring the capabilities of SAM 2.1 to even more people.<\/span><\/p>\n Benjamin<\/span> Bardou<\/span><\/a>, a French visual artist and filmmaker, created AI-generated \u201cmemories\u201d of notable paintings and oil pastels by Edgar Degas, artworks that reflect on the past and future of art history. These pieces premiered at NEO 612, an immersive showroom event \u2013 half technology and half art \u2013 hosted by Convergence and the Institut Montaigne. It will be presented at <\/span>the Mus\u00e9e des Arts et M\u00e9tiers<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n These projects point the way forward in the use of open source AI for creative expression, a powerful \u2013 and publicly available \u2013 digital addition to the toolkits of today\u2019s creators.
