MTIA is our purpose-built accelerator optimized for inference and recommendation at scale \u2014 and this partnership with Broadcom will help us deliver it at the level our ambitions require. We recently announced that we\u2019re developing and deploying <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/about.fb.com\/news\/2026\/03\/expanding-metas-custom-silicon-to-power-our-ai-workloads\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">four new generations of MTIA chips within the next two years<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to support ranking and recommendations, along with generative AI workloads, and this agreement will support the acceleration of our custom silicon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.broadcom.com\/company\/news\/product-releases\/64236\">Broadcom<\/a> will work with us across chip design, advanced packaging, and networking to help build out the massive computing foundation we need to deliver real-time AI experiences to billions of people. The partnership is built on Broadcom\u2019s XPU platform, a technology designed for creating custom AI accelerators (XPUs), enabling optimization of Meta\u2019s AI infrastructure across multiple silicon generations. Broadcom\u2019s advanced Ethernet technologies will also enable seamless, high-bandwidth networking across Meta\u2019s rapidly expanding AI compute clusters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The agreement includes a commitment that exceeds 1GW, which is the first phase of a sustained, multi-gigawatt rollout, reinforcing a shared roadmap to co-design and scale the hardware required to bring personal superintelligence to billions of people globally.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe are pleased to expand our strategic collaboration with Meta as they pioneer the next frontier of artificial intelligence,\u201d said Hock Tan, President and CEO of Broadcom. \u201cThis initial MTIA deployment is just the beginning of a sustained, multi-generation roadmap to serve the trajectory of massive growth over the next few years that highlights Broadcom\u2019s unmatched leadership in AI networking and the power of our foundational XPU custom accelerator platform.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cMeta is partnering with Broadcom across chip design, packaging, and networking to build out the massive computing foundation we need to deliver personal superintelligence to billions of people,\u201d said Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg. \u201cAs we roll out more than 1GW of our custom silicon to start and then multiple gigawatts over time, this partnership will give us greater performance and efficiency for everything we\u2019re building.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This expanded partnership with Broadcom and the continued evolution of MTIA are critical to Meta\u2019s broader AI infrastructure strategy, ensuring we have the custom compute foundation to deliver on our long-term AI ambitions at global scale.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Hock Tan Transition to Advisor<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Given the scale of this expanded partnership, Broadcom President and CEO, Hock Tan, will transition off of Meta\u2019s Board of Directors and will move to an advisor role for the company, where he\u2019ll provide guidance on Meta\u2019s custom silicon roadmap and help shape the future of our infrastructure investments.
