The moment I put on my Ray-Ban Meta glasses, I got my independence back.\u201d \u2014 Don Overton, a blind veteran of the US Army\u2019s 82nd Airborne Division.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More than 130,000 American veterans are legally blind and will be eligible for Ray-Ban Meta glasses.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>How Veterans Receive Their Glasses<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eligible veterans can request their pair of Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses through <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/bva.org\/glasses\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">bva.org\/glasses<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Veteran organizations seeking to help their members or other eligible blinded veterans receive glasses can apply through <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/page.techsoup.org\/metadonation\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TechSoup<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Training &amp; Support<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Every pair of glasses includes access to training resources designed to help veterans use them effectively. Training covers how their glasses can identify objects, read text, and manage everyday tasks using only their voice \u2014 a step change in daily independence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Available resources include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Monthly webinars: The Blinded Veterans Association (BVA) hosts monthly live webinars in partnership with TechSoup, where veterans can ask questions and receive real-time troubleshooting support.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In-person events: Meta and partner organizations host events across the country where veterans can receive their glasses, get hands-on guidance from trained staff, and connect with other participants in the program.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BVA Training Guide: BVA has developed a training guide specifically for blind and low-vision veterans that covers activating voice commands, reading documents, answering phone calls, and navigating daily tasks with greater autonomy.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dina Powell McCormick, Meta President and Vice-Chairman, said: \u201cWhen Don Overton worked with our wearables team at Meta to build features that made the Ray-Ban Meta glasses more meaningful to the everyday lives of veterans, we at Meta knew we had to find a way to reach every blind veteran in America.
