    Then you can use it in three ways:<\/p>\n

      \u201c\/no-ai-slop is this slop? (text)\u201d to detect AI writing. <\/strong>The skill will list all the slop patterns that it found.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      \u201cdraft an AI slop post (text)\u201d for some fun<\/strong>. Use it to generate the most cringe slop as satire like my LinkedIn comment below:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Jokes aside, even the best AI models (e.g., <\/span>Fable 5 and GPT-5.6<\/a>) still use most of the slop patterns below that \/no-ai-slop will remove:<\/span><\/p>\n

        Binary contrasts.<\/strong> \u201cIt\u2019s not X. It\u2019s Y.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      2. \n

        Throat-clearing openers.<\/strong> \u201cHere\u2019s the thing,\u201d \u201cLet me be clear\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      3. \n

        Faux-insight setups.<\/strong> \u201cWhat nobody tells you,\u201d \u201cThe part everyone misses\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      4. \n

        Colon reveals.<\/strong> \u201cThe best part: it learns.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      5. \n

        Dramatic fragments.<\/strong> \u201cThat\u2019s it. That\u2019s the whole thing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      6. \n

        Superficial analysis.<\/strong> \u201chighlighting the team\u2019s commitment to innovation\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      7. \n

        Importance puffery.<\/strong> \u201cmarks a pivotal moment,\u201d \u201ca testament to\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      8. \n

        Weasel attribution.<\/strong> \u201cexperts agree,\u201d \u201cstudies show\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      9. \n

        Synonym cycling.<\/strong> \u201cThe agent handles your email. The assistant drafts replies.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      10. \n

        Fake-profound endings.<\/strong> \u201cThe future isn\u2019t coming. It\u2019s already here.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Here\u2019s an example of using the skill to detect AI slop on a recent tweet I came across:<\/p>\n

        Substack just shipped <\/span>AI slop detection<\/a> to protect readers. They featured my <\/span>video<\/a> as an example of how to use AI to edit while still sweating the details. <\/span><\/p>\n

        Yes this post about no AI slop is human written <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n

        Basically, I work with AI in the middle 50% of my writing and editing process:<\/p>\n

          \n
        1. \n

          First 25%:<\/strong> I start by voice dictating or writing a rough draft without AI.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        2. \n

          Middle 50%:<\/strong> I use my \/newsletter and \/no-ai-slop skills to work with AI to clean up the draft. AI helps me find grammar mistakes, improve clarity, and more. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        3. \n

          Last 25%:<\/strong> I manually go through the piece line by line to make edits without AI.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          I\u2019d like to think that the difference between a creator who pumps out slop and a creator who cares about quality is <\/span>giving a shit about the first and last 25%.<\/strong><\/p>\n

          This applies to building with AI too. As <\/span>Kun (AI builder) shared in our interview<\/a>, AI handles the middle 50% where most of the code gets written. But you have to care enough about the first 25% (using your taste to shape the requirements) and the last 25% (validating the work) to make a product great.<\/span><\/p>\n

          The dark side of just letting AI draft and edit everything is always calling:<\/p>\n

            \n
          1. \n

            It\u2019s easier to just give AI feedback to edit than to do it manually.<\/strong> Products like Codex and Claude Code seem to actively discourage you from making manual edits to files.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          2. \n

            It\u2019s easier to just be lazy and not write at all if AI is not available. <\/strong>For example, I used to be productive on long flights. But lately, I\u2019ve become too lazy to write or edit anything without having AI available.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            Perhaps most depressing of all, pumping out slop can drive real results.<\/p>\n

            Without naming names, I\u2019ve seen some creators publish 10 AI slop posts per hour, every day. Some of those posts go viral and bring them more followers and revenue. But I like to remind myself that:<\/p>\n

            \n

            People who know AI can see the slop coming from a mile away.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

            A post can perform while still costing you trust with the people whose judgment matters to you. Consider these two examples:<\/p>\n

              Brian Chesky\u2019s account got hacked and posted an obviously AI generated thread. Readers spotted it as AI before anyone confirmed the hack.<\/p>\n

            2. \n

              My friend, Alex Cohen, wrote a letter to his employees highlighting that pumping out slop puts an unfair burden on the reader.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              I\u2019m not going back to editing everything manually, but I also don\u2019t want to lose my ability to think or craft a sentence when there\u2019s no Wi-Fi available.<\/p>\n

              So I\u2019m going to hold the line at my 25\/50\/25 writing process. Trust is the only durable asset we all have, and slop hurts trust with the people who matter.<\/p>\n
