{"id":23132,"date":"2026-08-05T04:26:06","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T04:26:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/scannn.com\/google-assistant-shutting-down-on-android-wear-os-in-september\/"},"modified":"2026-08-05T04:26:06","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T04:26:06","slug":"google-assistant-shutting-down-on-android-wear-os-in-september","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scannn.com\/lv\/google-assistant-shutting-down-on-android-wear-os-in-september\/","title":{"rendered":"Google Assistant shutting down on Android, Wear OS in September"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div>\n<figure class=\"img-border featured-image\">\n<p>\t<br \/>\n\t<\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/9to5google.com\/2025\/12\/19\/google-assistant-gemini-2026\/\">As expected<\/a>, Google Assistant is going away in 2026, and the company just provided a September 4 date for Android.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-724764\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Google sent an email to existing users today about how \u201cGoogle Assistant is going away on mobile devices.\u201d Officially, Assistant is \u201cbeing discontinued\u201d and that \u201cGemini \u2014 our next-generation AI-powered assistant \u2014 is now the assistant experience on Android.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company will start removing Google Assistant access on September 4, but \u201cthis process may take a few weeks to reach everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once availability is removed, you will no longer be able to use or switch back to Google Assistant on your phone, tablet, or paired devices.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Besides mobile devices, this deprecation also applies to Wear OS watches, headphones, and \u201cvehicles running Android Auto projected from a user\u2019s mobile device.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t<span class=\"outbrain-ad-label\">Advertisement &#8211; scroll for more content<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For cars with Google built-in, Google Assistant will continue to function beyond September 4, 2026.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today\u2019s announcement does not apply to other form factors yet, though Google mentioned that Gemini is coming to Google TV devices and Google Home speakers and smart displays.\u00a0It remains to be seen when the docked Pixel Tablet will get Gemini.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are committed to providing a smooth transition and are confident that Gemini will offer you an even more capable and helpful assistant experience<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This deprecation was originally set for the end of 2025 but was later extended to 2026.
