{"id":23521,"date":"2026-08-26T14:29:00","date_gmt":"2026-08-26T14:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/scannn.com\/an-open-letter-to-tiktok-and-youtube-to-join-us-in-supporting-teens\/"},"modified":"2026-08-26T14:29:00","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T14:29:00","slug":"an-open-letter-to-tiktok-and-youtube-to-join-us-in-supporting-teens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scannn.com\/lv\/an-open-letter-to-tiktok-and-youtube-to-join-us-in-supporting-teens\/","title":{"rendered":"An Open Letter to TikTok and YouTube to Join Us in Supporting Teens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are announcing an <a href=\"https:\/\/about.fb.com\/news\/2026\/08\/agreement-with-state-attorneys-general-supporting-teens\/\">agreement<\/a> we have reached with a bipartisan group of 52 attorneys general across US states, territories, and the District of Columbia<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, building on our longstanding efforts to empower parents and support teens.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Through this agreement, we have set out a path toward industry-wide commitments to further empower parents by introducing:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A two-hour daily time limit<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Turning off access to our apps at night as a default<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No notifications during school hours<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clear prompts and notifications to teens every 15 minutes of continuous screen time<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New parental supervision controls, so parents can decide how their teens use our apps<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We want to ensure teens benefit from this new industry standard, but we cannot do it alone. These protections will only be truly effective if we work with our peers \u2014 TikTok and YouTube \u2014 to put the same measures in place.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All platforms should empower parents and support teens in these ways because we know that when teens are restricted on one app, they simply move to another.
