With Generative AI gaining popularity in many different use cases, we asked Americans their general attitudes towards AI. Are there privacy concerns? Will this positively or negatively affect social media marketing?


 

 
Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) content is being used nowadays in a variety of ways within and across social media, including transcribing speech to text; recognizing and filtering out unwanted content; generating accurate/life-like images and videos; targeting advertising and messaging towards people who are most likely to be interested in a particular brand or topic; optimizing search results to deliver relevant information; and more.
 

 
Software programs like Photoshop have long been used to create or enhance body/facial images for advertising. Generative AI body/facial images are now being used for advertising as well.
 

 

 

 
It has been demonstrated that Generative AI ignores or produces images that less accurately represent the faces and bodies of people of color.
 

 
It has been discussed that Generative AI images can be harmful in the way that they sometimes create provocative images of women.
